    Advocate Like a Mother

Do you want to learn how to fight for your child's rights and access the resources they deserve?

"Advocate Like a Mother" is your essential guide to becoming a powerful and effective advocate.

A Mother. A Veteran. A Caregiver. An Advocate.

As a mother, a veteran, a caregiver, and an advocate, this emblem reflects the heart behind PALS. A promise to protect those who serve and to empower the families navigating complex systems like Social Security, housing, and veterans’ benefits. Every piece of this shield tells our story: standing in the gap where systems fall short and turning lived experience into lasting impact.

I’m T. M. Thomas, the founder of PALS.

My journey into advocacy started from a deeply personal place. As a disabled veteran and a mother of two children with significant disabilities. I found myself in the middle of systems that didn’t understand or support families like mine. I didn’t set out to become an advocate, but life gave me no other choice. Over time, the challenges I faced became the reason I learned, fought, and stood up. Not just for my children, but for others who needed a voice too.

I fought to secure my children’s education, pushed through layers of medical red tape, and worked tirelessly to keep a roof over our heads, especially when it felt like everything was stacked against us. I’ve written IEP letters, challenged unjust housing and Medicaid decisions, sat through difficult meetings, endured frustrating delays, and faced the fear of not knowing what to do next.

Over time, I realized something powerful: too many families are fighting the same battles without the tools, knowledge, or support they need to succeed.

That’s why I created Parent Advocacy Letter Services (PALS).

Through strategic letter writing, accessible toolkits, and personalized guidance, I help parents and individuals advocate for themselves and their loved ones with clarity, confidence, and purpose.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. I’ve been there and I’m here to help.
